Shoot Outcome -

Here are the photographs from my first preliminary photoshoot for the Uncanny.

As said before It is based off of the end of the world, Nuclear Fallout.

I think they came out quite well and I am now excited to carry on with this project and attempt to create somthing interesting. My next stop should be an underground bunker or concrete structure.

Shoot Ideas -

My first idea for a shoot was going to be in the forest. As if a group of people had fled to a near by forest to escape the cities.

My thoughts where to makie it look as though they had been living there for somtime but it all became too much one winter and they simply walked off into the darkness.

As for props I will need general living supplies, medical supplies, food, water, home-made spears & rusted knives.

Photographically once I have set up the props and location I will use a series of wide shots, close ups, and macro in order to try and tell a story of what happend to the people that where trying to live here.

Possibly somthing like this -

As for photographers I think I will look at Don McCullin as he has taken many photographs over the years from many different countries and many different conflicts and wars. Showing the world when it could have ended.

Preliminary Idea -

The Uncanny - End of the World Fallout

My idea for the Uncanny project - showing signs of life without showing people - my first thoughts where of Nuke Town, end of the world, Fallout style compositions.

If the world where to end there would be constant signs of life all around though there would be no people to explain or fill the empty voids.

I wanted to make it seem as though the world has already ended and a few have survived, though finally withered to the demands of the wastelands.

Location -
Bunker, train tunnels, concrete walls, underground carpark.

Composition -I do have a specific 'feel' that I want to portray and for reasearch and influence I will be looking at some End of the World films such as The Book Of Eli, The Road etc.. However I will also be looking into some games such as the aptley named Fallout and Fallout: New Vegas.

Based on the above I want to use a concrete room, like a bunker. I want to have an old table sitting in the centre of the room with an old projector playing the '3-2-1' emergancy broadcast message with the reel stuck in between the 3 and 2 to show the 'event' occured just has the broadcast message went out.

I want Make it look asthough someone has been living in a fallout shelter, possibly home made. To do this I will need to following items -

Shotgun, dirty tuppa ware, dirty & broken plates, broken eye-glasses, used bandages, medical supplies

I also want to have a set of dusty footsteps to show someone was there, but not any longer.

I have also toyed with the idea of showing death, though subtley.
